What is the Easiest Change I Can Make TODAY To Improve My Diet? Ask a PT

I’m Matt, Prime Male’s resident personal trainer. I’ve been in the industry since 2009, starting out as a lowly fitness instructor cleaning treadmills, then progressing to personal training and finally fitness and nutrition writing.

One of the things that we here at Prime Male wanted to improve was how much we helped our customers.

These articles are an opportunity for us to help our fantastic community as best as we can. I have collected a number of the most common questions that I get asked as a personal trainer and will be answering them each week.

I’m not an expert in all areas, and may not be able to answer ALL questions, but as someone who has helped hundreds of people improve their fitness and diets, I can certainly answer most.

As this is week 1, I don’t have any questions lined up yet. So, I turned to my colleagues and got them to submit some queries that they had. Here is the first one:

What is the Easiest Change I Can Make TODAY To Improve My Diet?

Question: What is the Easiest Change I can Make TODAY to Improve My Diet?

Answer: Most people’s biggest barrier to dietary success is hunger cravings. Most of us know what we can do to reduce our calorie intake (smaller portions, better food choices, more protein, and fewer snacks).

But when it comes to actually doing what is necessary, our bodies betray us. We start to feel hungrier than we have ever felt. Suddenly, the smell of the bakery on the way to work becomes irresistible, and before you know it we’ve got a bag full of cookies in each hand!

If we can reduce these cravings, then our chances of succeeding are significantly higher.

So, what is an EASY way to curb our cravings? The answer may surprise you.

Go To Bed.

That’s right, sleep more. Studies have repeatedly shown us that when we have a good night’s sleep, our hormones become more balanced [1]. Our appetite is affected by the hunger and satiety hormones (leptin and ghrelin).

A good night’s sleep will help to reduce your appetite and increase satiety (how full you feel after a meal). While a bad night’s sleep can leave you hungrier and less satisfied with your food choices.

But that’s not all, a bad night’s sleep can target the same area of the brain that is affected by cannabis. Ever heard of the munchies? Well, bad sleep can cause you to seek out high-calorie junk food in the same way.

So, if you want to improve your diet immediately. Start sleeping for at least 7 hours. Not only will you gain greater control over your appetite, but you will also see improvements in your energy levels, testosterone levels (for men), and in your mental and physical performance.

Combine your new sleep regime with a natural testosterone booster such as Prime Male, and your results will be improved even further.
